Alumna Reviews Marquette Food/Drink Scene

NMU alumna and freelance food and drink writer Layla Khoury-Hanold ('04 BS) focuses on Marquette in a piece for the Chicago Tribune. She writes that the outdoor splendor, recreational activities and vibrant downtown have turned the city into a "bona fide tourist destination," as reflected by a new crop of food and beverage producers, several of whom are NMU alumni. Art Exhibit Opens Friday

An exhibition that symbolizes the story of millions of refugees worldwide will open Friday, Aug. 30, at Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum. Israeli artist Orna Ben-Ami will give a talk at 6 p.m. An opening reception for her "Entire Life in a Package" exhibit will follow from 7-9 p.m.

NCLL Offers Chair Yoga Classes

The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is partnering with Essentials Massage and Yoga Studio to present a five-session chair yoga program. Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesdays Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1 and 8. The location is 708 Chippewa Square, Suite 10 in Marquette.
