Police Academy Info Meeting in Ironwood

The Northern Michigan University Regional Police Academy will host an informational meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Gogebic Community College. The meeting will start at 5 p.m. CST in the Solin Business Center room B-12 and last about 45 minutes. It is for those interested in attending NMU's Regional Police Academy, a 16-week session that begins in May and concludes in August.  

Alumnus Explores Environmental Justice in Erdrich's Fiction

Northern Michigan University alumnus Kyle Bladow ('07 BA, '09 MA) will present "Environmental Justice in Louise Erdrich's Speculative Fiction" as the inaugural speaker for the Department of English's new Visiting Scholar Series. His talk is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in room Peninsula I of the Northern Center. It is open to the public.

Campus and Marquette Bus Tour offered

Northern Michigan University's Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a free Campus and Marquette Bus Tour from 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1. The Beaumier Center's director Daniel Truckey will lead the tour. Attendees will discover how NMU has changed throughout the decades. Participants will also travel through Marquette's commercial and historic districts to see the location of old off-campus hangouts and hear stories from years past. 

NMU Homecoming Activities Announced

Northern Michigan University's 2021 Homecoming will feature a full slate of activities for alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members Oct. 1-3. NMU is offering a schedule of ways for Wildcats—both near and far—to get involved and share their green and gold pride. This year's celebration is sponsored by Innovate Marquette SmartZone's Make it Marquette campaign.
