Northern Michigan University's master's degree program in Administration of Outdoor Recreation and Nature-Based Tourism has invited three related business-oriented innovators to campus for a public presentation: keynote speaker Bob Jacquart, owner of Stormy Kromer and Copper Peak; Joe Thiel from Innovate Marquette; and Phil Britton from the Outdoor Recreation Innovation Action Network (ORIAN). The free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 18, in Northern Center Peninsula II.
Jacquart will talk about positive leadership in the industry in a challenging financial environment. Thiel will talk about future impacts of electrification and mobility on the outdoor recreation industry. Britton will speak about ORIAN, a project to bring outdoor recreation product development and manufacturing to the central Upper Peninsula to diversify its economy.
Each year, the students in NMU's online master's degree program come to campus for a three-day seminar. They end the seminar with a public event and invite speakers to participate.
The Administration of Outdoor Recreation and Nature-Based Tourism (AORNBT) program is for a wide range of people who would like to work at an administrative level in the field of recreation, outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism. It is built for flexibility, delivered entirely online with two seminar sessions on campus. Learn more here.
