Campus and Marquette Bus Tour offered

Northern Michigan University's Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a free Campus and Marquette Bus Tour from 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1. The Beaumier Center's director Daniel Truckey will lead the tour. Attendees will discover how NMU has changed throughout the decades. Participants will also travel through Marquette's commercial and historic districts to see the location of old off-campus hangouts and hear stories from years past. 

NMU Homecoming Activities Announced

Northern Michigan University's 2021 Homecoming will feature a full slate of activities for alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members Oct. 1-3. NMU is offering a schedule of ways for Wildcats—both near and far—to get involved and share their green and gold pride. This year's celebration is sponsored by Innovate Marquette SmartZone's Make it Marquette campaign. 

'Dance Your Dance' Book Launch Party Sept. 23

A free book launch party for Dorothy Paad's "Dance Your Dance, Sing Your Song," based on her positive experience overcoming challenges related to cerebral palsy and other factors to achieve her goal of taking dance classes at NMU, will be held Thursday, Sept. 23. The event is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at NMU's Forest Roberts Theatre. It will feature a dance performance by NMU students, a book signing, light snacks and refreshments, and posters and other related items available for purchase. Masks are required.

NMU Sees Increase in First-Year Students

Northern Michigan University's incoming first-year students, along with the number of credit hours they are taking, both increased by more than 10% for only the second time since 2000, according to its 10th day enrollment report. NMU has also increased the total population served through its many learning options and its Educational Access Network, which delivers broadband to a number of previously underserved U.P. locations.

Shipping Container Aids Indoor Ag Program

Northern Michigan University's indoor agriculture program has received a special delivery to enhance education, research and partnership opportunities. A new shipping container that houses a state-of-the-art growing center is located just outside of the Jacobetti Complex. Its operation will be supervised by students and the produce it generates will be distributed to NMU's hospitality management program and campus dining facilities.
