Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum will host its 18th annual "North of the 45th" exhibition June 20-Aug. 1. The juried show features artists who reside above the 45th parallel in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. A reception is scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday, July 25.
This year's juror is Rebecca Heidenberg, a curator, cultural producer, filmmaker and co-founder of the Minneapolis gallery Dreamsong. Beyond implementing a full exhibition program, she collaborates with her partner to produce Dreamsong's public programming, including talks, performances and screenings. In 2021, Heidenberg launched Twin Cities Art Week, an annual celebration of contemporary art in Minneapolis and St. Paul that features events at more than 20 venues, from small artist-run spaces to leading galleries and major institutions, including the Walker Art Center.
Admission is free. Museum hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday.
