Michael Crum is a professor in the College of Business at Northern Michigan University, where he has taught since 2010. He has a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville. He also holds an MBA, a master's in strategic finance, and a bachelor's degree with majors in accounting and finance from Indiana University Southeast. He primarily teaches courses in strategic management, entrepreneurial finance and operations management.
Crum has published articles in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, the International Journal of Entrepreneurship, Journal of Enterprising Communities, and Journal of Small Business Management. He is currently working on research on topics including how religion influences engagement in self-employment, the use of crowdfunding platforms to raise money for new ventures, and the level of vertical integration among mining firms in the Upper Peninsula.
His many hobbies include reading, hiking, biking, fishing, woodworking, operating amateur radios, and model railroading. He also enjoys gardening and raising chickens with his wife on their hobby farm in Negaunee Township.
