WNMU-FM Receives Broadcast Excellence Awards

WNMU-FM producer and host Kurt Hauswirth recently won two Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. “The Local Shuffle,” a special edition of “The Shuffle” new alternative music program that premiered on the station just last year, was recognized as best musical programming. An interview he conducted with poet Moheb Soliman about his “HOMES” release and reading in Marquette earned a merit award for special interest and cultural programming.

NMU Senior Art Exhibition Ends April 29

Northern Michigan University seniors graduating from the School of Art & Design have artwork displayed at the DeVos Art Museum through Friday, April 29. The exhibition features students concentrating in ceramics, computer art, digital cinema, drawing/painting, graphic design, human-centered design, illustration, metalsmithing/sculpture as well as photography and woodworking.

NMU Virtual Powwow March 26

Northern Michigan University's Native American Student Association (NASA) and the Center for Native American Studies will host "Powwow 102: Learning to Walk Together (While Apart)." The event will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26 on Zoom and on NASA's Facebook Live @nmunasa. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged. 

Invoke Performs at NMU

Invoke, a multi-instrumental quartet originating in Austin, Texas, will perform at Northern Michigan University as part of the Siril Concert Series. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, in Reynolds Recital Hall.
