Whetstone Brook Cleanup May 18

Apr. 30, 2019 —
The Marquette County Conservation District and Megan McConville, a Northern Michigan University professor who specializes in water chemistry, are seeking volunteers to help clean up trash and debris from Whetstone Brook and its surrounding banks. Crews will meet at Founders Landing, where the tributary spills into Lake Superior, at 10 a.m. and work until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Prizes and lunch will be included. Volunteers should wear boots and gloves.

Victim Services Training Offered

Apr. 24, 2019 —
Northern Michigan University's Serving Native Survivors Circle project will hold professional development training titled "“Privileging American Indian Ways of Knowing in Victim Services.” The free training is designed for tribal victim services employees, with an opportunity for CEUs available. Non-tribal victim services employees, along with students in Native American studies and social work, are also welcome to attend.
